A great salvation
Hebrews 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
Great because of our need for it
In Genesis God created all things, man was perfect, made after the image of God Himself. (Genesis 1:26-30). But then came sin (Genesis 3:1-13). The first sin is accompanied by the first passing of blame.
Because of Adams sin every human born afterward is born a sinner.
What is the big deal about sin? Romans 6:23a wages of sin is death. Adam and Eve would still be alive today if they had not sinned. Sounds crazy but its true death came from sin.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
1st Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
James 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
So salvation is great because of our need for it.
Great because its free to all who will believe
I like free things, nowadays we are programmed to believe that if something is free than it is worthless, stolen, or broken. We think that there must be strings attached which is why religions that practice a works salvation are so popular.
Ephesians 2:8-9
Romans 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
Praise God I don't have to be a somebody to be saved, I don't have to live right first!
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Christ didn't die for you at your best, He saw you at your worst and loved you anyway.
Salvation is great because of our need, and because it is free to all
Great because of what it saves us from
Hell is a real physical place, many wimp preachers don't preach this anymore but you need to know the truth! Because if there were no Hell than why did Christ die? Hell is real and it is described for us in
(Luke 16;19-31)
If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior then that is where you are headed!
Great because of the confidence it brings
Salvation is eternal, life in Heaven with Christ forever. When you are truly saved you can know that you are secure,
John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Joh 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Joh 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
Joh 10:30 I and my Father are one.
Romans 8:35-39
Great because its the only way out
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Good deeds, church attendance, the spiritual lives of others, praying a prayer, none of these can save you!
Great because its simple
Salvation is often rejected by people because they refuse to believe that such a desperate problem, sin, death, Hell can be so easily solved.
Romans 10:9-11 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
If you are truly saved then you will not be ashamed, you will not care what others think or say because YOUR NOT GOING TO HELL ANYMORE!
Romans1:15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
